Maresa is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Talbert Law Office, APC, which provides representation and general counsel services to small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and creative individuals.

An accomplished attorney, Maresa has authored articles appearing in the Association of Business Trial Lawyers Report and the San Diego Magazine. Maresa is listed in the San Diego Business Journal’s Top 100 Leaders in Law, Top 50 Women of Influence in Law, and Top 50 Black Leaders of Influence. She was awarded the Outstanding Service by a New Lawyer Award by the San Diego County Bar Association, and has also been named to the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, Top 40 Under 40 Emerging Leaders by the San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Super Lawyers Rising Star Award for Intellectual Property in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Maresa Talbert is also co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Justice Workshop (TJW), a nonprofit organization that helps grassroots individuals embrace their political power through education and community organizing. TJW's work focuses on three pillars of justice: electoral, criminal, and economic. As part of its electoral justice mission, TJW is working to change the election and governmental structures of San Diego, ensuring that elected officials and local governments are more accountable to voters and residents.

In addition to her role at TJW, Maresa is the co-founder and co-chair of TJW's sister organization, San Diegans for Justice (SDJ). SDJ, a political action committee, supports TJW's three pillars of justice. In 2020, San Diegans for Justice led a campaign for a San Diego City charter amendment that resulted in the creation of the community-led Commission on Police Practices. Placed on the November 2020 ballot, the charter amendment passed with the approval of nearly 75% of the voters. The newly formed Commission seeks to strengthen community oversight of complaints against the police, as well as the policies, procedures, and practices of the San Diego Police Department.

Maresa is a Baylor Bear alumna. She received her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, and an Intellectual Property Certificate from the University of California San Diego Extension. Maresa also served 14 years as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy and Navy Reserve, to include two deployment tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Furthermore, Maresa is actively and widely visible within the San Diego communities, both legal and the community-at-large. Maresa served as the President of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association, Vice Chair of the San Diego County Bar Association Intellectual Property Section, a Director for the California Western School of Law Alumni Association and the National Naval Officers Association, an Advisor for the Law, Justice, and Technology Initiative at California Western School of Law, and a pro-bono attorney with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.
